The sense of beauty in Japan! Tourist attractions easy to access from Golden Pavilion
DATE:2017/03/03
The Japanese sense of beauty is often expressed by the word "Wabisabi".
This means to feel deep and rich from frugal and quiet.
There is a temple where you can experience the sense of Japanese "Wabisabi" so I would like to introduce it.
When we go straight up the Takagamine street, we can see Genkoan.
We can easily find the great gate of Genkoan amongst the trees along the street.
In the great gate, there is a round window that expresses the way of zen.
There is a famous round window and a square window in the main hall which has been preserved in the same form from the time it was rebuilt.
The round window is called the "window of enlightenment", and represents the macrocosm. The square window is called the "window of illusion", and represents a man's life.
The room is not bright, but it makes you feel as if you have been transported through time.
You should not only see the view from the windows but also the garden named 'Tsurukame-no-Niwa' (Garden of Cranes and Turtles) behind the main hall.
You will be fascinated by the elaborate garden.
The technique "Shakkei" is one of the points in understanding the beauty of Japan.
What do you think?
Although it is a simple space, it attracts the heart of the viewer.
How about making time to look at your own life at Genkoan, which shows various expressions from season to season.
