Kyoto

Why not experience Japanese traditional culture when visiting Kyoto? We'd like to introduce Seiganji temple for the Syakyo experience.
Syakyo is recommended to learn Japanese traditional culture in Kyoto.

Syabutsu, Buddhist drawing

Syabutsu (Buddhist drawing) is the one of the traditional Buddhist practices.
Its aim is to both calm you and refresh your mind by copying a model of a Buddhist drawing.

Syabutsu

The points of Syabutsu are;
・To calm yourself by drawing,
・To train your mind with the repetition of simple work,
・To look back on your life by facing yourself and realising your characteristics.
・etc.

Buddhist art

Japan has been strongly influenced by Buddhist art and culture since ancient times.
Zen, Syakyo (copying Buddhist sutra) and Syabutsu take place as present Japanese Buddhist art and cultural experiences for tourists.
We highly recommend Syabutsu out of these experiences because it doesn't require people to write complicated kanji(Chinese characters) or just sit down on a tatami mat and the Buddhist drawing will become a good souvenir of Kyoto.

Seiganji temple

Seiganji temple offers the set of tools needed for Syabutsu, so you can go for the experience.
There is Dokukyo experience (reciting a sutra) as well in Seiganji temple. Give it a try when you come to Kyoto.
