Do you know the Japanese paper "Washi"?
It is the traditional paper used since ancient times in Japan which is different from "western paper" imported from Europe and the United States.
"Washi" is still used at many places as fine paper.
We will introduce a store where you can make your own "Washi" souvenir.
"AKARI DESIGN STUDIO" is located near Nijo castle which is the one of the main sightseeing spots in Kyoto.
Once you step into the workshop, you will see various colors and shapes of Japanese paper lanterns.
You can experience hand-craft of lighting with using original washi papers.
There is a standard course for those who want to experience making Japanese paper lighting properly.
You can make a wonderful lighting arranged in your own way in about 3 hours.
The light through the washi paper is very warm and makes you feel calm.
Akari(light) of Japanese paper lighting will make you even more relaxed.
There is also a simple course for tourists who do not have much time.
In this course, you can make Japanese paper lighting in about 2 hours.
You can bring it back home. The original Japanese paper lighting will revive the happy memories of the experience.
