Hayashi Mansyodo has been operating for 140 years as a Chestnut Store. It is located in Teramachi Dori Shijo, Kyoto.
Many come by attracted by the scent of sweetness. Some tourists even take pictures!
The sweet and delicious scent comes from roasted chestnuts!
The chestnuts are quickly put into bags and tied with a string right after order. The sting is tied so fast that it is done in seconds!
Other than roasted chestnuts, you can try the chestnut ice cream as well! It tastes very good! Highly recommended for those who are not familiar with the taste of sweet chestnuts.
Hayashi Mansyodo's chestnut is also popular in China and Hong Kong. You can purchase it at Hisamitsu department store in Shanghai or Sogo department store in Hong Kong in the autumn and during the New Year.
